10 HCC softball team players recognized on All-KJCCC team
Hutchinson Community College placed 10 softball players on the 2024 All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All-KJCCC Division I team.
The All-KJCCC team was released on Tuesday.
Making the first team were Olivia Sandoval, Bailey Backhaus, Jaeleigh Darnell, Alexis Mastin, Dakota Lake and Morgan Tomlinson.
Madi Divis and Korri Lies were second-team selections and Tammy Lozoya and Annie Kealey were honorable mention selections.
Lake was named Freshman of the Year in the Jayhawk Conference.
Lake posted a 7-2 conference record and on overall record of 11-3. She is the second Blue Dragon to reach 200 strikeouts in a season.
Lake posted a 1.47 earned run average for the season and a 0.79 conference ERA.
The 10 players helped the Blue Dragon softball defeat Butler CC 16-4 in the Region VI championship game Monday, claiming the program’s second-ever region title and first since 1987.
HCC will take a 46-10 record to the NJCAA Division I softball championship May 20-25 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.
The league’s Most Valuable Player was Barton Community College’s Allyson McDougal.
The Coach of the Year honor was awarded to Colby Community College’s Steve Kinnett.
