Commission wraps up the month with annual reports, discussion of local events
Reno County Commission met on Wednesday, April 24 in the Veterans Room at the Reno County Courthouse for a routine meeting covering annual reports, proclamations, and discussions of upcoming events in the county.
Reno County Sheriff Darrian Campbell presented his office’s annual report, highlighting statistics and updates for the 2024 year. Campbell stated that his departments “embrace the continuous model” and have been promoting various avenues of training for staff. The correctional facility focused on training for jail deputies and supervisory staff with crisis intervention training, and all correctional staff completed a course in de-escalation training.
“By de-escalating an issue, they are less likely to be in a use-of-force scenario, where they a risk a deputy or inmate becoming injured,” Campbell said, emphasizing the importance of this training.
He also noted they had hosted training on tasers, OC spray, defensive tactics, tourniquet applications, and training on the mobile reporting system.
