Council to consider downtown walkability grant, housing development hearing
The Hutchinson City Council will consider approving an application to receive funds for an improvement project focusing on pedestrian safety in Downtown Hutchinson.
City staff filed a project concept application to the Kansas Department of Transportation in March and was deemed suitable for a full grant proposal.
The grant will cover 80% of the proposed costs. Additionally, a federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant will cover the remaining 20% of the project.
“The cost of this project is expected to be completely covered by TA and HSIP funding,” Construction Manager Justin Karam wrote in the official city agenda.
