When Kyle Fisher was introduced as the 16th head men’s basketball coach at Hutchinson Community College Wednesday afternoon at the Hutchinson Sports Arena, he made sure that his family came first during his news conference.
After five seasons as head men’s basketball coach at Butler Community College, HutchCC’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference rival, Fisher had to sell the idea of moving to Hutchinson to his wife Kathryn and 8- and 7-year-old daughters Grace and Rose, who were showing off their Duke the Dragon stuffed toys.
“A big thank you to my family for their constant support,” said Fisher, who compiled a 113-42 record as the Grizzlies’ head coach, including a 78-34 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference games. Four times his teams reached 20 victories.
“I have 13 nephews and nieces in the Kansas City area who now are big Blue Dragon fans. I love winning and despise losing. I love basketball and I love to compete. I’m lucky to have those three to share it with.
