Paramore Named HCC President
Hutchinson Community College’s Board of Trustees chair Terry Bisbee announced Thursday the Board has selected Dr. Tricia Paramore as the college’s next president, pending approval of a contract at a special meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 1.
Paramore, the vice president of academic affairs at HutchCC since February 2023 and a 28-year veteran of the institution, will become president of the college July 1.
“I appreciate the work of the search committee and the Board of Trustees,” said Bisbee. “Based on the feedback we received, we’re very confident in our selection and look forward to getting an agreement finalized with Dr. Paramore.”
Paramore replaced Dr. Carter File, who announced his retirement in Nov. 2022. File was the college's seventh president. File’s career with the college began in 2005 as the Vice President of Finance and Operators. He was elevated to the presidency in July 2014. His retirement will end his more than 24-year career in higher education.
Paramore will assume her presidency as the college’s eighth president.
Bisbee said the board of trustees discussed the presidential choice for over an hour in executive session at a meeting held Monday night.
From a beginning pool of 46 applicants, five semifinalists emerged and were interviewed by the search committee. The field narrowed to three finalists, each participating in a daylong interview on campus.
Hundreds of people heard the three finalists and were asked to fill out evaluation forms. The forms were then distributed to all board members for their review and to assist them in the decision-making process.
